According to a report in the Singapore daily The Straits Times on November 20, many Indians have indicated their willingness to donate their kidneys to Foreign Mister Sushma Swaraj who is suffering from kidney failure.

Sushma Swaraj tweeted on last Wednesday that she was undergoing dialysis because of kidney failure, and expressed her wish to find a matching kidney for transplant. After the tweet, many internet users expressed their willingness to donate their kidneys. 64 year old Ms Swaraj belongs to the Bharatiya Janata Party, however people who offered to donate their kidneys come from all parties and even different social and religious backgrounds, including from Muslim religion in which organ donation is controversial.

An internet user tweeted: “I am a Muslim, but I would like to donate my kidney to you… … You are like my mother figure.” Ms Swaraj thanked him and replied, “I am sure, kidney has no religious labels.”▲
