Chinese veteran Wang Qi stranded in India set out for home land

NEW DELHI, February 10, People’s Daily (Reporters: Yuan Jirong, Zou Song): Chinese veteran Wang Qi, who was stranded in India, and his four family members  arrived in New Delhi on the afternoon of February 10 and was warmly welcomed by the staff of the Chinese Embassy in India. The first sentence uttered by Wang Qi after he got down from the vehicle was “I am finally going back home after 54 years.” Chinese Ambassador to India Luo Zhaohui said while shaking Wang Qi’s hand: “Grand old man, you had a rough time, welcome back home. You have been suffering for your country from the time you were 24 years old, living in a foreign land for 54 years. Today you have fulfilled your desire to return back to your country; we are happy for you and pray for you.” It is reported that Wang Qi will fly home by the early hours of 11th February.
