NEW DELHI, February 12, People’s Daily (Yuan Jirong): The Indian military said two soldiers and four militants were killed in a fierce gun battle that broke out between a patrol party of the security forces and unidentified armed men on the same day in a village in Indian-controlled Kashmir.
A spokesman for the Indian military said that in the early hours of Sunday the Indian security forces after getting a news launched a search in Kashmir’s Frisal district. The fire fight broke out when the patrol squad was carrying out inspections on suspicious persons in the village. Two Indian soldiers and four militants were killed in the exchange of fire, and five soldiers were wounded in the gun battle. The identities of the militants are further being confirmed.
According to the reports, in the past few days several demonstrations erupted in the nearby village. Demonstrators shouted anti-India slogans and pelted stones and bricks at police stations and patrol parties.
