Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang’s Remarks on the Delivery of China’s Emergency Humanitarian Supplies to Bangladesh
Q: It is learned that the emergency humanitarian supplies provided by China to the government of Bangladesh have been delivered to Bangladesh. They will be used for resettling the displaced people who escaped from Myanmar to Bangladesh due to conflict. Could you give us more details on this?
A: The Chinese side is highly concerned about the difficulty facing Bangladesh in resettling the displaced people in the Myanmar-Banladesh border area. In order to help the government of Bangladesh with the resettlement efforts, the Chinese government has decided to provide emergency humanitarian supplies to the government of Bangladesh, including 2,000 relief tents and 3,000 blankets. The above-mentioned supplies have already been delivered to Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh and now Bangladesh is distributing the relevant supplies.
As a friendly neighbor of Bangladesh, the Chinese side supports Bangladesh’s efforts to resettle the displaced people properly and stands ready to continue providing assistance to Bangladesh as its capacity allows.
