Beijing, April 16 (Reporter Zhang Huizhong) Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying said at his regular press conference of the 16th that recent Sino-Indian interaction has fully demonstrated that the two countries have extensive interests in common and that bilateral cooperation is promising.
In response to a reporter’s question, Hua Chunying said that since the beginning of this year, China-India relations have maintained a positive momentum of progress under the guidance of the leaders of the two countries, with close exchanges at all levels and much new cooperation in different fields. Yang Jiechi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of its Foreign Affairs Working Commission, held talks with the Indian National Security Advisor Doval in Shanghai. The 11th meeting of the China-India Economic and Trade Joint Group and the 5th Strategic Economic Dialogue have been held successfully. The Heads of the two Foreign Ministries also exchanged visits. The two sides also held meetings on working mechanisms such as border affairs and trans-border rivers.

“The above interactions have fully demonstrated that China and India have extensive interests in common and bilateral cooperation is very promising,” said Hua Chunying.

She said that China attaches importance to developing relations with India and would like to work with India to implement the important consensus reached by the leaders of the two countries, firmly adhere to the correct direction of development of bilateral relations, gather more positive energy, expand cooperation, and promote healthy and stable relationship between the two two countries.
