The twelfth meeting of the China-India consultation and coordination mechanism on border affairs was held in Chengdu. from September 27 to 28, 2018. Yi Xianliang,, Director of the Department of Border and Ocean Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China, and Fu Pengfei, Director of the East Asia Department of the Indian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired. Representatives of the defense and diplomatic departments of the two sides participated in the meeting.

The two sides reviewed the situation in the border areas of the two countries this year and exchanged in-depth views on issues such as border control and confidence-building measures. The two sides agreed to carry out the spirit of consensus reached by the leaders of their two countries, further strengthen communication and coordination between the diplomatic and defense departments of the two countries, properly manage and control border-related problems, enhance exchanges and cooperation on the border and jointly safeguard peace and tranquility in the border areas so as to create  an atmosphere conducive for healthy and stable development of China-India relations.
