Q: Sri Lanka continues to experience political upheaval. Earlier, the Sri Lankan President dissolved the parliament, subsequently, it was stayed on by the Supreme Court, and today, the Prime Minister appointed by President Rajapaksa has been defeated in the parliament, and no-confidence motion has been approved. Do you have any comment about the current situation in Sri Lanka?
A: As a traditional friendly neighbor of Sri Lanka, China has been closely following the developments of the situation in Sri Lanka. We hope that Sri Lanka can maintain stability. We hope and believe that all relevant parties in Sri Lanka have the wits and ways needed to deal with the current situation.
