The U.S. Government and Afghan Taliban representatives concluded their negotiations in Doha, Qatar on the 26th. The two sides made important progress towards a ceasefire in Afghanistan.
According to the Afghan Taliban news, a draft agreement aimed at ending the war in Afghanistan was signed by the representatives of the two sides at the last moment after six days of arduous negotiations. The Special Envoy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Anti-Terrorism and Mediation released a statement that said that the two sides discussed many key issues during the negotiations, including withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan and realization of national reconciliation within the country. The next round of negotiations between the US and Afghan Taliban will be held in Doha next month.
