On September 30, 2020, the 19th meeting of the China-India Border Affairs Consultation and Coordination Working Mechanism was held by video. Hong Liang, Director of the Department of Boundary and Maritime Affairs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, co-chaired the meeting with the Joint Secretary of the East Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of India, Naveen Srivastava .

The two sides had a frank and in-depth exchange of views on the situation in the Line of Actual Control area on the China-India border. They agreed to earnestly implement the five-point consensus reached at the Moscow meeting between the two Foreign Ministers, strictly abide by the border affairs agreements signed by the two countries, take pragmatic measures to promote further easing and cooling of the situation on the border and avoid any actions that may complicate the situation. The two sides positively evaluated the results of the Sixth round of Commander-level talks and agreed to continue to maintain dialogue and consultations through diplomatic and military channels and hold the Seventh round of Commander-level talks as soon as possible to deal with the remaining issues on the ground promptly and appropriately and to jointly maintain peace and tranquility in the border regions.
