According to the Indian Tribune on the 14th, the statue of Mahatma Gandhi outside the Indian Embassy in the United States was destroyed on the 12th by Sikh separatists. In this regard, the Indian Embassy in the United States strongly protested.

The Hindu newspaper stated that on the day of the incident, Sikh youths in many parts of the United States were holding peaceful protests to support Indian farmers in their opposition to the agricultural reform bill. Soon after this peaceful demonstration was held, a group of Sikh separatists carried the “KHalistan Movement” (representative of Indian Sikh separatism) flags with anti-India posters and slogans mixed in between some of them. A man jumped onto the statue of Gandhi, pasted a poster on it and broke it. The Indian Embassy in the United States issued a statement on the 13th, strongly condemning the malicious sabotage carried out by these “hooligans pretending to be protesters,” and stated that it is conducting preliminary investigations with the US State Department and will take action against the perpetrators in accordance with relevant laws. According to reports, this is the second time in this year that the statue has been damaged. In early June, the statue was not spared during the “tide of upturning statues” triggered by the death of the African man.
