NEW DELHI, Jan. 26 (Xinhua) — A Milan-bound Air India passenger plane made an emergency landing in Delhi after smoke was detected at its cabin Tuesday, said local TV channel CNN-IBN.

The TV channel quoted Air India sources as saying after the plane took off from the Indira Gandhi International Airport here, smoke was detected inside the cabin and the crew decided to return the plane to the airport with an emergency landing there.

All passengers on board the AI 137 flight were deplaned. Initial investigation showed the malfunctioning of some parts of the plane could have caused the incident, according to the report.
