Pakistani Foreign Minister Qureshi began a three-day visit to the UAE on 17th April, Pakistan’s Dawn newspaper reported on 18 April. A few hours later, Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar also announced a visit to the UAE on the 18th. The overlapping itineraries have sparked speculation that relations between the two countries are set to ease. However, Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry denied reports of a meeting between the Pakistani and Indian Foreign Ministers. AFP said Pakistan suspended trade and diplomatic relations with India after India withdrew its provisions for special status of Kashmir in 2019. In February, the Indian and Pakistani militaries announced an agreement to stop exchanging fire in the Kashmir border region. The UAE ambassador to the United States had confirmed earlier that the ceasefire was brokered by the UAE.
