According to a report on the website of India Today, the government of the Indian state of Uttarakhand is investigating a “new corona virus detection scam”.
According to the report, sources revealed that the private testing agencies involved received orders from the government to test for the New Corona virus during the important Hindu festival of Mahakumbh this year. The data shows that the government hired testing agencies to organise the religious event for the festival and tested more than 250,000 people for the new coronavirus, of which only about 2,300 tested positive. Preliminary investigations have revealed that many private testing facilities did not conduct genuine New Corona virus tests at all, but instead made up false test reports using the names and mobile phone numbers of randomly collected people.
The authorities now suspect that a total of more than 100,000 test results are suspected to have been falsified, and government payments to the testing facilities concerned have been withheld while further detailed investigations are underway.
